TriEye reveals Tower as SWIR sensor partner ...

TriEye Technologies Ltd. (Tel Aviv, Israel) has announced that Tower Semiconductor Ltd. is its foundry partner for its shortwave infrared (SWIR) sensor for the automotive ADAS and industrial markets.

The sensor incorporates 1.3 million pixels on 7-micron pitch made using Tower’s back-side illuminated germanium photodiode technology. The process includes a pixel-level electrical connection in a wafer stacking process that allows a monolithic CMOS-based solution for sensing light at wavelengths beyond the capability of silicon.

TriEye’s sensing solution provides copes with very low light, severe fog, dust, or smoke conditions, the company claims.

Existing SWIR sensors are inherently expensive and therefore not usually considered for mass markets, TriEye’s SWIR CMOS-based solution provides performance at low cost, and can be deployed in high-volume markets such as automotive ADAS.
